As Southeast Ohio’s first Certified Financial Planner™ and Registered Investment Advisor, I have been helping my clients and their families plan for the future for over 30 years. As a fee-only, fiduciary advisor, I revolve my practice around giving objective, independent financial planning and investment advice. 

I truly believe in the importance of establishing long-term relationships with my clients, and getting to know them and their families. After all, money is personal, and trust is the foundation of every successful advisor-client relationship. I pride myself in learning my clients plans for the future, personalities, wants and needs so well that I can help them address the questions they might not even think to ask.

The Alliance of Comprehensive Planners (ACP) is the community of tax-focused financial planners that operate under the retainer model. This not-for-profit organization trains its members in the ACP System™, an extensive program based on the highest ethical standards and most innovative practices in the financial planning industry. As fee-only fiduciary financial planners using the retainer model for compensation, ACP members provide a distinct alternative in the marketplace. To assure that their clients’ financial plans are comprehensive, they consider not only interest-earning, real estate and equity investments, but also the tax consequences that can impact or be impacted by investment and financial strategies. ACP member advisors optimize the use of assets for tax efficiency, growth and security to ensure their clients’ goals are achieved, and maintain their CFP® or CPA/PFS (or equivalent) designation and/or licenses. ACP members are best known for offering an open-retainer agreement. You pay one annual fee and receive ongoing access to your advisor throughout the year. This open communication is critical to achieving your financial goals.

ACP’s Functional Asset Allocation. The premise of this revolutionary approach is that each asset category serves an important function or purpose in people's lives and that understanding these unique functions allows the use of assets to be optimized. Real estate, in the form of the personal residence, is a prime example. While it can be the largest investment a family has, provides the best protection against inflation, and adds value beyond a financial calculation because of the personal enjoyment derived from its use, most money managers do not include it when constructing an asset allocation strategy.

 

The CFP® certification process, administered by CFP Board, identifies to the public that those individuals who have been authorized to use the CFP® certification marks in the U.S. have met rigorous professional standards and have agreed to adhere to the principles of integrity, objectivity, competence, fairness, confidentiality, professionalism and diligence when dealing with clients. 

Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. owns the certification marks CFP®, Certified Financial Planner™, CFP® (with plaque design) and CFP® (with flame design) in the U.S., which it awards to individuals who successfully complete CFP Board’s initial and ongoing certification requirements.

Fiduciary Responsibility

Financial advisors typically have one of two responsibilities to their clients: a fiduciary standard or a suitability standard.

  • A fiduciary standard requires that an advisor expose all conflicts of interest and act only in your best interest.
  • A suitability standard only requires that an advisor offer you products suitable to your needs, regardless of whether or not they are in your best interest.

At R.C. Whitmore Advisors, Inc., we are fiduciaries and always act in your best interest. We are committed to providing our clients: 

  •  Straight talk about your money and finances. As a fee-only financial planner Roy does not sell any products or accept any commission. His only compensation is what you pay for his professional advice. Consequently, his focus is on what is best for you.
  •  An all-inclusive approach. Working together with his clients to evaluate all aspects of their finances, Roy helps design plans that reflect each client’s unique core values and personal goals. Clients often comment that he pays a lot of attention to areas of their financial life that are overlooked by other financial planners.
  •  Easy access. Because life is constantly changing, Roy is committed to being available to you as often as is necessary to accomplish your financial goals. Your visits can be in-person, by telephone, by video conference, or by any combination of these that you feel is best.

Cannon of Ethics

As an ACP member, I agree to the following Canon of Ethics and will uphold it in my dealings with clients, fellow members, and Alliance of Comprehensive Planners Inc.:

I am in a fiduciary relationship with clients, which means that I will put each client's interests first, before my interests or any others, and disclose potential conflicts of interest to all clients and prospective clients.

I will conscientiously complete all work agreed to in a prompt and timely manner.

I will provide financial planning services solely as a fee-only advisor. I will act objectively in all matters with clients and will not accept any commissions based on advice or recommendations given.

I will continually strive to improve upon the competence and the quality of services I provide.

I will maintain the highest level of professional integrity in relationships with clients, associated professionals, and government officials.

To the extent allowed by law, I will always hold confidential all information shared with me by potential and contractual clients and by other members and staff of ACP.
